The Sweatshop Poem

Now that you’ve learned a little bit about what life is like for Indonesian sweatshop workers, pretend you are a Nike sweatshop worker and write a poem from this viewpoint.

The night are cold, the days are dark
my kids are sad, they miss their dad
my wife is sick, shes fighting for her life
I get paid 1.25 a day thats not enough to pay for the food
all the people who proest are abused i need help, i need a reason tp go on.

My Aquarium

The most challenging part of the project was putting all the blocks in the right place.  I 'm most proud of the way it came out because i never did a project like this before.

Made in L.A

1. How is the life of sweatshop workers in L.A. the same as those in Indonesia?  How is it different?
Its slightly better than Indonesia but still they are struggling to get money. Its the same as Indonesia because they get paid lower than minimum wage and are struggling to help they're families.

2. Why is it that poor immigrants (newcomers) end up working at sweatshops?  Why don’t they work as lawyers or doctors or at McDonald's?
Because they need money to support they're families and they don't care how they get the money and because they are undocumented.

3. Predict what’s going to happen by the end of this movie
I don't think they these women are gonna get help unfortunately.

Behind the Swoosh part 2

1.  How much do Nike workers make in Indonesia each day?  How many hours a day do they work?
$1.25 a day. 15 hours.
2.  What is life like for Indonesian Nike workers at home?
It's horrible the works need to survive in these small houses that are humid and unsanitary.
3.  Why won’t Nike talk to Jim or Leslie or let them visit the shoe factory?
They wont talk to them or let them visit the factory because they dont want them to see how it really is inside the factory.

2 Truths and a Lie About My Summer

This summer I went to Coney Island and I rode the cyclone. I love roller coasters and next summer I plan to go to 6 Flags and ride the Kingda Ka!

Another thing I did was go to visit my cousins in Virginia we stayed over there for the weekend and we went to go visit Washington D.C and we rode on these small boats that you have to pedal on and my aunt put her hand in the water and by mistake caught a dead fish.

Over the summer i also exercised and ran a few times around the block with my friend who agreed to also exercise with me because he wanted to lose weight.
